Maz'enethole Quarter 3 2024

A warm welcome to the quarterly newsletter, Quarter 3 of Maz’enethole 2024. In this edition of the CEO’s note, Malungelo Zilimbola touches on the upward trends experienced across the markets. He highlights the current optimism being experienced in the sector, owed in part to the diligence of the 3 month old GNU. In the CIO perspective, Asanda Notshe explores why infrastructure should take center stage for South African investors, highlighting some lessons South Africa can learn from Eastern Europe in the near and long-term future. The article is a nod to the current GNU agenda for more investment in local infrastructure to lay the ground for a prosperous economic future.

AI is indeed taking over all aspects of life and wellbeing, and with that we see an increase of AI use in the Asset Management sector. In their co-authored article, Stephán Engelbrecht and Alungile Gcaza explore what role AI has to play in the asset management industry, and highlight its specific use at Mazi Asset Management. This edition of the newsletter Andres van der Horst highlights the Mazi BCI Global Equity Feeder Fund, a steadfast, continuously performing equity fund made unique at Mazi in that it is seed-funded by the Mazi staff and family, showing that the team puts its money where its mouth is.
